Write the request.
Write a question or instruction with the BOOX pen. RiddleBoox sends the captured page as an image so a compatible vision model can read it.
AI, built for the BOOX page
Write to it with the pen. It can keep the thread of your conversations, use the BOOX tools you choose, and write its answer back on the page.
Native Android / built for BOOX
RiddleBoox requires a one-time BOOX setup before first use. See the requirement below, install the APK, then add an API key for an AI model that can read images and stream replies.
How it works
Write a request on the page. If it needs one of the tools you enabled, the agent can use it before writing the answer back. A pause or a tap on Send starts the turn.

In automatic mode, a short pause ends the turn. In manual mode, tap Send when the page is ready.
The agent can use enabled tools before it answers. The response is drawn stroke by stroke, ready for your next line.
What makes an agent
Connect a model, then choose the agent's name, instructions, memory, workspace, and access to BOOX tools.
Provider and model
Add your own API key and choose a model that can read handwriting and stream replies. Tool-enabled agents also need tool calling.
01 / modelAgent identity
Every agent has its own name, instructions, greetings, and tool permissions. Start with a built-in agent or create one that fits how you work.
02 / identityLocal context
Each agent keeps its own memories and workspace files, separate from the others.
03 / contextBOOX capabilities
Optionally let an agent use your BOOX library, reading progress, highlights, and Notes.
04 / toolsMemory between sessions
Reopen a saved conversation, or let an agent keep useful details and files for the next session.
Pen, page, and device
The pen is the input. The page is the interface.
Write directly inside the page frame with the BOOX stylus. RiddleBoox captures the ink without adding a keyboard to the turn.
A pause can submit the page, and the reply appears stroke by stroke with refresh behavior tuned for e-ink.
Enable them for an agent when you want it to use library data, highlights, or Notes.
Ready to install
Download the APK, complete the ADB step listed below, then connect an AI model that can read images and stream replies.
Installation and data
RiddleBoox needs a BOOX tablet with a pen and Android 10 or later. Before first use, connect the tablet to a computer with ADB and run adb shell settings put global hidden_api_policy 1. The setting survives reboots but must be repeated after a factory reset.
You bring your own API key. The endpoint and model must accept the app's OpenAI-compatible request format, read images, and stream replies. To use agent tools, they must also support tool calling.
Every agent has local memory and a private workspace. Optional capabilities can add access to the BOOX library, reading progress, highlights, and Notes; you choose which agent receives them.
Agent definitions, conversation history, memory, and workspace files are stored locally. For each turn, the page image and relevant conversation, memory, and tool context go directly to the AI provider you configured. There is no RiddleBoox server.
Yes. Start with a built-in agent or create one with its own name, instructions, greetings, local workspace, memory, and selected BOOX capabilities.
